USB installation problem

I'm currently trying to install untangle 9.4 to my HP Proliant DL360 G4.
(single core 3.0GHz Intel Xeon, 2GB RAM, 2 x 36GB 15K SCSI HDD in raid 1)

At first I tried to install using the cd, but this kept failing when the installer said it couldn't mount the cd.
So I decided to install from usb, but the problem now is after the install it won't boot without the usb stick connected.
It just gives me this message and does nothing more:
Code:

Trying to boot from hard drive
And then even if I boot it up with the stick connected it loads grub, but after that I get this:
Code:

grub error 18; Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS.
So my questions are:
How do I install untangle so I can disconnect the usb stick after install?
How do I solve the grub error 18?
