I have my brand new Untangle10 box setup and running in my home and the basics seem to be fine so far but I can't seem to get my bandwidth control working properly. My goal is to limit the bandwidth for 3 categories;
1) Me and any systems I use
2) My wife and her work laptops
3) My kids
In the simplest terms I want to guarantee and provide full max bandwidth for anything and everything I do
I want to assure a minimum bandwidth for my wife making sure her work VPN/Citrix etc are all covered
I want to limit the kids a max of approximately 25% of the bandwidth
I thought it would be rather simple via QOS and Bandwidth Control but in everything I try my bandwidth is limited by the QOS default priority setting that I configured. In other words if I enable QOS and leave it with no other rules I am limited. If I set the default to Very High I am not limited. I made the error of defining a QOS rules for MY DHCP reservations but clearly that did not work which is stated in the QOS "note"
I then tested the default QOS along with a Bandwidth Control rule that added my IP block to the Very High priority BUT I am still severely rate limited. What am I doing wrong? I really thought this was pretty straight forward yet I cant get it to function properly.
One last item is I have all the LAN devices using DHCP reservations so I know every device and HOST name
