Untangle between a Router and Switch.

I have a 2611xm Router connected to our wan, and from there downstream is the untangle (the appliance that has brought me nothing but humiliation) with a static IP address on the external interface. It is set as the WAN port.
The internal port is bridged to the external and connects to a router only interface on a 3560 switch.

The subnet between the router and switch is 192.168.1.0/29, (1.1 is the gateway, 1.2 is the switch, and 1.3 is the untangle's external int).

So the untangle can surf the web. But all traffic ceases past that. It is manageable from the LAN on the switch, but no web can get out. When you directly connect a laptop to that internal drive and set the interface on that laptop to 192.168.1.2, still no traffic.

I am told I need to turn off routing on the untangle, but such suggestions are always extremely cryptic and lack any substance whatsoever. If I set the external to a bridge, I can't manage it. Has anyone ran into this issue?

Support has said I might need to use a crossover which I doubt. I have already played with the line speeds and made it fullauto and half and so on and to no avail.

Thanks.
